Too many decisions are being made based on politics and not on science. Its time to open our schools and get our children safely back in the classroom, interacting with peers and teachers. New Jerseyans need an advocate for our children who are suffering by not being able to attend school in person. More than 200 New Jersey schools have not opened their doors since March of 2020. The children of New Jersey deserve to be put first- ahead of politics and other agendas.
New Jersey businesses have been crippled by the policies enacted in response to the Coronavirus. Without a clear plan or metrics for
re-opening, businesses were unable to survive the shut-down. Approximately 30% of New Jersey small businesses closed forever in 2020. Large corporations found New Jersey to be too expensive as well- Nabisco being the latest company to move out of state leaving more than 600 people without a job. Families are fleeing the state because they simply can’t afford it any longer. We need policies that will put New Jersey businesses first, so that our families can afford to stay.
Putting New Jersey families first means addressing our deficits, getting spending under control, and getting the government out of your wallet. New Jersey’s fiscal problems are among the worst in the nation.
The State of New Jersey is potentially facing a combined revenue shortfall of nearly $10 billion through the end of Fiscal Year 2021. We need to end government’s addiction to deficit spending and raising taxes. The reckless cycle of raising and spending tax dollars has made New Jersey unaffordable for the next generation. It is time for our elected officials to get serious about making New Jersey affordable for our families.
There is nothing more important than the safety and security of our families. Jersey 1st supports police officers who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting our communities. As we have witnessed acts of destruction and violence throughout the country over the past year, it has become evident that we must restore law and order by supporting and fully funding police departments in New Jersey without hesitation.
